GM Chat Log ~ Anarchy Online
The following is a chat log that took place between a customer and a GM, the point of concern is in bold text - the whole tone however is hostile, dismissive and threatening. It is against Funcom's own policies to issue threats of any kind, so it is hoped the GM in question was disciplined. The customer in question, perhaps understandably, no longer has faith in the usefulness of the petition system.
Arguably this should never have occurred in the first place if proper controls and training were in place for customer facing staff.
To [*******]: well basically me and my team were leveling on hecks. We have a high level enforcer friend that was gathering hecks for us and we were killing them
To [*******]: there was this NT that came by named ********* that was very upset that we were taking hecks from what he deemed a "kite spote"
[*******]: So has your friend pulled someone elses monsters as well?
To [*******]: no he didn't
To [*******]: This team had been here for awhile
To [*******]: The NT came after the team had already been there.. and wanted the enforcer to stop pulling hecks from where we've been leveling so he could kite there instead.
To [*******]: Which, as far as I know.. there is no such thing as a kite spot.. and since the team was there leveling.. he had no more right to those hecks than us
To [*******]: So anyway, we told him to go away. And instead he came and trained us.
To [*******]: He was well aware that we were there.. so it wasn't an accident. He'd stopped and talked to us even in the spot where we were standing
To [*******]: and my entire team can vouch for this
[*******]: He said that your friend was pulling his mobs away from him
To [*******]: He is lieing. He came and spoke to us
To [*******]: He trained us..
To [*******]: He knew we were standing where we were standing and he trained a ton of hecks to that spot intentionally
To [*******]: what is his response for that?
[*******]: Payback after asking your team to stop. i have told him that is not the way to do things
To [*******]: So he admitted to training.. that means he gets banned?
To [*******]: We were there first
To [*******]: so there is no "payback"
To [*******]: he wanted us to stop leveling so he could
[*******]: I'll ban everyone 1st then sort it out..
To [*******]: so you're going to ban us for getting trained?
To [*******]: We didn't do anything
[*******]: stay away from that person
To [*******]: Its hard to stay away from someone when they train you.
To [*******]: Please explain
[*******]: please share the playfield there room for all
To [*******]: Hold on a sec.
To [*******]: I read the EULA
To [*******]: You're telling me that this guy admitted to you that he trained us.
[*******]: After you messed up his play
To [*******]: And your response is to 1. Threaten to ban all of us (even if the people that got trained) and then tell us to play nice?
To [*******]: We were here FIRST.
To [*******]: He messed up our play by training us.
To [*******]: Are we expected as players to simply step aside when someone walk up to us and asks us to go level someplace else?
[*******]: Your team was petitioned earlier about this
To [*******]: I heard nothing about it from anyone
To [*******]: What was the petition reason?
[*******]: they asked to stop taking his/her kite
To [*******]: Asked who?
[*******]: your team
To [*******]: Who asked the team? None of us were contacted by ARK
To [*******]: And if we were here first.. How are we the one that were taking?
[*******]: the player said he asked twice about it
To [*******]: And who in ARK contacted who in my team?
To [*******]: Because a player going to another player saying "Hey, I know you were here first but go away so i can kite" doesn't seem like an ok thing to do.
To [*******]: The expectation should not be that the team that was there first has to go away.. the NT should've found another spot to kite.
To [*******]: However, you just told me that the NT admitted to training us.. and yet no action is being taken. We have not admitted to any wrong doing. We've not broken the EULA as far as I know. If so, I'd like to know how.
[*******]: I will be investigating both parties claims fully.
To [*******]: I'm a bit frustrated by this conversation to be honest.
To [*******]: Because you are a GM, correct, not just a volunteer ARK?
[*******]: Correct you are
To [*******]: Someone telling you that they broke the EULA should result in instant action right? No investigation needed if someone admitted to guilt.
To [*******]: There's no justification for harassment in this game, right?
[*******]: I will continue watching that player from here on out to see if there any more harassment of you and your team.
To [*******]: But you will do nothing about him admitting to harass us by training us? I just want to make sure, for the record, that I understand how the policy is carried out.
[*******]: I will do what is necessary
